Harris Corporation Integrates H-Class Digital Asset Management with COTS Video Analysis Software for Tactical Surveillance
ORLANDO, Florida, November 14, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) today announced at GEOINT 2006 (Harris Booth #711) an enhanced capability for its H-Class Digital Asset Management solution, a core application in the H-Class Content Delivery Platform, utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), third-party software analysis tools to expand the capability of surveillance networks. In a joint development effort with Mediaware and piXlogic, Harris has integrated video analytics, video and audio coding and processing/storage capabilities into a single digital asset management platform. "The H-Class Content Delivery Platform can integrate with any software application needed for video analysis," explained Lucius Stone, director of sales, Government Solutions, Harris Broadcast Communications Division. "Harris chose to work with Mediaware and piXlogic because we wanted to associate our platform with the world's best-in-class applications." Integrated with the H-Class Content Delivery Platform are video analytics tools from piXlogic and Mediaware. piXlogic has a highly advanced visual search engine that automatically analyzes, indexes and searches the contents of images and video files, with high levels of accuracy and speed. Mediaware has created an IP-based video networking solution that enables the distribution of multiformat digital content to a variety of client devices that are best suited for playback. In addition, Mediaware provides an interface for moving Key-Length-Value metadata through the H-Class platform, which makes it available to multiple applications. By integrating these analysis tools with the H-Class platform, users can link concepts and images together through the H-Class Digital Asset Management Video Thesaurus feature — which quickens and simplifies the search for video material needed in highlights, clips and promotionals — and move content from one device to another in a secure manner. "Together, these toolsets bring strong video analytics software to their user base, automate the process of finding key images in large amounts of video content, annotate against those images and move the required video to the right location," continued Stone. "In short, the combined capability industrializes the management of huge quantities of video and enables a video analyst to find a needle in a haystack."
