Harris STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite Achieves Pre-Qualified Listing from Canadian National Cryptologic Authority
Network Security Product Added to Pre-Qualified List for All Levels of Canadian Government
Melbourne, Florida, December 6, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, today announced that its STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite (VMS) 6.4.0 has met the security standards established by Canada's Communications Security Establishment (CSE). STAT Guardian VMS has been placed on the Information Technology Security (ITS) Pre-qualified Product List (IPPL) http://www.cse-cst.gc.ca/services/industrial-services/products/stat-vms-e.html.
"The addition of STAT Guardian VMS to the Canadian CSE's IPPL list continues our leadership as a trusted IT security solutions provider that meets the industry's most stringent requirements," said Rick Simonian, vice president of the Homeland Security Programs, Harris Government Communications Systems Division. "Achieving this milestone is another indication that our customers can continue to place the utmost confidence in our security products to protect their critical information."
The IPPL contains the products that have been pre-qualified by Canada's CSE under the ITS Product Pre-qualification Program and are solely for the Government of Canada's (GoC) procurement purposes. The program is an initiative jointly led by the CSE and the Public Works and Government Services Canada to facilitate the GoC's procurement of ITS products that meet CSE pre-qualification criteria.
Successful prequalification also requires that products undergo an examination process performed by CSE to verify that the products: (1) use CSE-approved cryptographic algorithms and a FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2-validated cryptographic module; (2) have been verified under the Cryptographic Module Validation Program, Cryptographic Endorsement Program or Common Criteria Scheme for significant ITS features; (3) do not contain known vulnerabilities that cause unacceptable risks; and (4) have potential application with the GoC.
STAT Guardian VMS also received Common Criteria (CC) certification from the Canadian Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme in May 2006. CC certification is a globally accepted standard for evaluating the security features and capabilities of information technology products.
The CSE is the lead agency on cryptography for the GoC. It analyzes and approves cryptographic algorithms for the protection of all designated information and for electronic authorization and authentication applications processed by GoC information technology systems. It supplies government organizations with cryptographic materials necessary to safeguard designated information and meet the security and privacy needs of the electronic commerce environment.
